Chuck Weber

Chuck WeberChuck Weber has 30 years of experience as a communications strategist, publicist, writer, marketer and educator. He has counseled national and state professional and trade associations, large and small corporations, health care providers and political campaigns.

While teaching political science at Loyola University Chicago, Chuck entered the public relations field in 1976 performing media consulting for political candidates and became press secretary for the Illinois State Treasurer’s Office in 1979. In 1983, he accepted a position with Abbott Laboratories, where he managed public relations for the company’s diagnostics and hospital products divisions. He won an Abbott President’s Award for establishing an international public relations function for the diagnostics division.

Chuck opened his own public relations consultancy in 1993. The first account was a national pharmacy awards program for Abbott. Soon after, he expanded his portfolio in health care by winning accounts with Ortho Clinical Diagnostics, Eli Lilly and Company, Siemens, Dupont-Merck and Bayer. His work for Ortho earned the Biomedical Marketing Association’s Excellence Award.

Success with pharmaceutical industry clients in liaising and alliance building with associations and advocacy organizations led to the firm’s long-term relationships with professional societies, such as the American Pain Society, American Academy of Implant Dentistry, American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.

Weber has generated extensive national and international media coverage for APS and its key issues. For example, APS annual scientific meeting association spokespersons and presenters have been covered in Newsweek (a cover story), the Associated Press, ABC News, Good Morning America and World News Tonight.

Chuck is a graduate of Benedictine University and has a master’s degree from Loyola University Chicago. He is a member of the Public Relations Society of America’s Counselor’s Academy, teaches at Loyola’s Graduate School of Business, was inducted into Alpha Sigma NU and Blue Key national honor fraternities, and served on the Board of Directors of St. Joseph High School in Westchester, Ill., and the Chairman’s Council of Wellness Place, a cancer-support organization based in Palatine, Ill.
