For Abbott Molecular, Weber & Associates provides ongoing public relations and marketing communications support for its leading-edge molecular diagnostic tests for HIV viral load monitoring, chlamydia, breast cancer monitoring and for a breakthrough system, called PLEX-ID, for pathogen testing and antibiotic-susceptibility evaluation. The firm also publicizes Abbott-sponsored research presented at key scientific congress, such as the Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections (CROI) Clinical Virology Symposium, Association for Clinical Pathology (AMP) and the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC).
For Abbott Diagnostics, Weber provides support for new biomarkers, such as NGAL for rapid detection of acute kidney injury. In 2009, the firm organized and managed media briefings about NGAL at the World Congress of Nephology in Milan. For Abbott Hospital Products (now Hospira) Weber we created and managed the Abbott Hospital Pharmacy Quality Awards, the first and only program to recognize achievements of hospital pharmacists for quality management, such as prevention of medication errors, efficient drug utilization and physician and patient education. Weber handled all promotion, publicity, administration and event coordination for the program at the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists annual meeting.
